TreoCentral Expert Review

TC Review: Smartphone Experts Pen Stylus (3-Pack) for Treo 680
Reviewed by Jimmie Geddes
When I received my own Treo 680 I knew needed a stylus replacement, I just couldn’t get used to the cheap feel of the stock stylus. Luckily the TreoCentral Store offers a 3-pack Pen Stylus for the Treo 680. These are no ordinary styli, they do something Palm OS Treos can’t do yet, they multitask (I had to throw that joke in). All kidding aside the name says it all, you get a stylus that turns into a pen.

When I opened up the package I was glad to see and feel that the styli are mostly metal, a light weight chrome to be exact. I know I’m being materialistic but the feel of the stylus matters to me, and I’m happy to report this looks and feels better than the stylus that comes with the Treo 680. Unlike some other styli replacements I have come across the Smartphone Experts Pen Stylus fits perfectly in the Treo 680.

In the past I have purchased replacement styli for my Treos that also featured a pen on one end, and I paid $19.95 for a single stylus pen. My only wish is that the Smartphone Experts Stylus Pen weighed a little more, I like the “heft” of my 700 series styli (hint, hint), but these styli are definitely a step up from the stock stylus Palm includes. So in my opinion you’re getting one heck of a deal for 3 stylus pens for $14.95. If you’ve got a Treo 680 and want a more substantial stylus look no further than theSmartphone Experts Pen Stylus (3-Pack) for Treo 680 .

StarStarStarStarStar Reasonably good stylus. Crappy pen.

I ordered some of these last year.

As styli, they are perfectly good.

As pens, they are also perfectly good, assuming you dont need to actually put ink on paper.
StarStarStarStarStar Very Disappointing
User: David Cafaro, Dec 19, 2007

Pros:  Ink might last long enough to write your signature once.
Cons:  Ink usually doesnt last long enough to write your signature once.

Ive always replaced my Treo styli with combination pen styli for the convenience. Unfortunately there is no convenience with these as the ink doesnt last long enough to write your own signature.

These are a waste of money, buy a different one, very disappointed.
StarStarStarStarStar I have a suggestion...

Pros:  Nice idea
Cons:  No Ink!!

...Put some ink in the damn things!

I ordered these back on May 31, 07. There was enough ink to sign my name twice. The same was true of the other 2 styli in the 3-pack. I called customer service and they sent me a replacement package and an RMA, which I recd yesterday, July 2. I tried the replacement styli and I have the same problem NO INK!

Needless to say, it is my feeling that the product could be vastly improved by including a quantity of ink sufficient to produce several pages of writing, as opposed to 2 signatures.
