HP Veer Seidio 2400mAh Extended Battery

Product Description

The Seidio 2400mAh Extended Battery provides approximately 100% more capacity than the 1200mAh that initially ships with the Treo 680 but adds very little to its thickness. This is the answer for those on the go.

Even with heavy phone and data use, this battery will keep your Treo going through the day and longer. While we have packed a lot of power into one battery, this product only extends your Treo 680 by 4-5 mm! In fact, the extended battery cover will make holding your Treo 680 easier. Your hand rests on the battery cover quite comfortably.

*Battery covers available in different colors.

PLEASE NOTE: This Extended Life Battery will increase the size of your phone making it too large for standard fit cases.

TC Review: Seidio 2400mAh Extended Battery for Treo 680
Reviewed by Jay Gross
With twice the capacity, the Seidio jumbo battery merrily gets me through much more than just one day. To test it, I’ve left the 680 off the charger cord for seven days, and it still shows a 40-percent battery reading. This is with Bluetooth running -- a battery-conservation suggestion: turn it off if you’re not using it – and IR active (another power saver: turn it off when not needed) plus a 1-Gig SD Card in it (in case that matters for power usage), and many phone calls, one more than 20 minutes long.

Although the battery and its companion cover weigh 1.8 ounces (51 grams), their toting weight isn’t that much higher, because the original battery and cover come off to make way for the hump set. The Treo 680 with original battery (and door) weighs in at 5.5 ounces (157 grams). With the extra hump battery I clocked it at 6.1 ounces (174 g), a mere 0.6 ounces more – 17 grams. The extra weight isn’t much of an issue, unless you’re one of those people who hold the thing up to your ear four hours at a time. But didn’t you choose the 680 in the first place because of its smaller size and lighter weight?

Work around, or with, the cradle and case problems, and if you do not mind a little extra weight and the added size, the Seidio 2400mAh Extended Battery brings plentiful power to the Treo 680, and you can keep Palm’s battery charged up as a spare.

Pros:  Extended battery seems to have a longer battery life
Cons:  The battery cover does not stay put --slides right off

The battery cover does not stay on. I can't get that "click" sound in knowing the cover is secured. Just be sure to put your treo in a case to secure your battery and cover so it doesn't fall off.
StarStarStarStarStar Copper extended battery for Treo 680

Pros:  Battery lasts easily for a week
Cons:  The casing slips right off.

After looking over the original case and the new extended case with some reading glasses, I figured out that the new case did not have squared off, clean perpendicular edges. It seemed the plastic transition from one perpendicular surface to another was gradual causing it to slip off easily.

Using my reading glasses and a curved razor knife I spent some time carefully squaring off all the edges, especially around the locking/unlocking mechanism of the new case.

The casing now locks snugly with no tendency to slip off.

If I also had to troubleshoot the organizational flaws that caused this initial imperfection, I would say it would be in the product quality assurance area and the final cutting of the plastic casing.

I remember building plastic model cars with my uncle as a youngster. We always had to clean off the excess plastic on each part to ensure a tight fit.

For $60 I would think the original equipment manufacturer would cover that final detailing on that one piece of plastic. The casing design seems fine. The attention to detail in producing the final product poor.

I hesitate purchase anything pricey from this group. Im not sure how they could restore my confidence in the quality of their products.
