Before using battery for the 1st time its important to do a "System (Warm) Reset" and fully charge it without any extensions, etc. running. Then do a "Soft Reset" after charged.
This should recalibrate your battery gauge. I found out the hard way, from fast unexplained drops in battery during the day, that it was not the batterys fault, it was the Treos gauge.
