For Treo 680 cannot use headset button to receive calls

call/receive button doesnt work
Decent quality headset, great price. However on my Treo 680 the call/receive button doesnt work. Dont really use it anyways because I scan my calls first before picking up and when I do that I can easily use my touch screen to accept the call.

I find it functions well and people I talk to can hear me well. I no time flat it started crackling at the slightest touch of the jack. Those audio jacks are not meant to handle the use a phone gets.
Perhaps I shouldnt demerit the headset for what is an industry flaw.
Tip: The phone side jack connects to the headset plug via leaf springs. If you leave the plug in long term, the springs fatigue more. Unplug it when youre not using it for better life (good for mp3 players too)
