Get the updated software !
User: Randy Palma, Jul 25, 2007
Pros: Works as good as any stand alone unit
Cons: sometimes incoming calls or emails throws it off
When its good, its really good. When its bad its frustrating. Seriously I think the previous poster did not have the latest update which you can download from Garmins website. Clearly Garmin is the world leader in GPS technology. I have Garmin recievers in both my airplane and boat and I highly recommend buying their stock as well.

I used the Garmin 20 just yesterday to navigate my way down to a part of Miami that I was not familiar with during the height of morning rush hour. Shortly into my trip an orange diamond symbol appeared in the lower right hand corner of my treos screen. I touched on it and was forwarded to a screen that warned me of a crash along my route that had heavy congestion starting to pile up. Another page actually showed me the highlighted area of concern along my route map. It then asked if I would like navigation around the choke point. I clicked yes and within seven seconds it had found me a route using side streets to navigate around the snafu on the turnpike that I could have never found on my own. The features available with this package make my treo every bit as good as any stand alone gps that I have ever used.

However..... try as we might our treos cannot be everything. At least not at the same time. If you should get an incoming call while navigating it can throw the unit into a serious brainfart. Same thing if you have "pushed" emails coming through. They sometimes, not always, can throw off the satellite reception of the unit somehow. All in all though I am much happier warts and all with this solution than I would have been with a separate stand alone gps. Plus I trust Garmin to continue to support this product with updates and tweaks as I have seen them do with all their other products that I own.
Why not a seperate GPS?
User: Kumar Shah, Aug 18, 2007
Tell me again, why not a seperate GPS unit for about the same money? Have to charge two gizmos (Treo and GPS receiver) anyway, and have to carry two gizmos too. That way you avoid all the problems of crashing when receiving calls or push emails!

Dont understand the compulsion to have the Treo (I use the 680 from AT&T) do things badly that other gizmos do much better. If it means not carrying one more thing, I could understand.
Great service not so good hardware
User: George Simons, Jul 9, 2008
I originally received some wrong parts for the unit (e.g., mini vs micro SD chip). Garmin was great when I contacted them and shipped me the right parts w/o cost. The software installed easily but has operated sproradically (it hangs up in the middle of calls). I have a leather dashboard and the unit kept falling off even though the mounting adhesive was supposed to be "extremely difficult to remove after it is installed." (cant mount it to the windshield as Im in CA and its legally prohibited). I cant charge the unit as the adapter (I have a Treo 750) only fits Treo 600 units or earlier. Garmin suggested I call Palm/Treo to get a charging unit for the 750. However, they dont make one that fits the Garmin unit. This means I cant charge the system in my car, which seems to defeat the whole purpose. BTW, it would be great to have a voice activated unit so it is truly hands free
Would be grat if.......!!

Pros: Map portion work fine so far
Cons: Voice Stutters on my Treo 700p
If someone knows a solution to this please respond. Garmin software version 4.00.3xx. I have had a Treo since the 650, and upgraded to the 700p. I would be really happy if Palm or Garmin or someone, could come up with a solution the the stuttery, jittery voice that comes out of the mapping software. I only had it for a couple of days. Can I record my own voice instead?...maybe that will help. Feel free to repsond. Thank you very much.
Palm users, do NOT buy this
User: Kevin Williams, Apr 2, 2007
Pros: none
Cons: ummmm just doesn't work!
Both the Mobile 20, and the Mobile 10, as of this date, simply does not work with the Palm OS. It crashes, it hangs, it stutters, etc etc etc. Until Garmin does more upgrades, and fixes the problems, don't waste your money. As a long time garmin user (and Palm user) and forum participant, this view is shared by all. XT (the garmin software) is just not ready for prime time where Palm is concerned.

Interestingly enough, XT (the software included with both Mobile 10 and Mobile 20) works ok with my ipaq, on Winmobile 5.0. Word is, its not behaving nicely with 2003 though.
