TC Review: Motorola S805 Wireless Bluetooth Headset

So how do these suckers sound? As a wired solution, they're the best headphones I've ever used. Listening to a Clapton guitar solo is stunning. I especially enjoy the high end and hearing the ting of a high hat clearly gives me the tingles. The mids are completely clear so the voices are sharp and crisp. The basses achieve a wonderful richness as I feel the foam cushions give them space to breathe. The stereo separation is fantastic. The separation helps to create a clear sense of space and individuate the sounds. Most music, especially live performance is mixed as if you were looking at a stage with the lead vocalist center, the drummer in back, and the various guitars, lead and bass, on the sides so good separation clarifies the instruments and creates space for the vocal.

Using these wirelessly is also a treat. Although degraded from the wired solution sounding a bit fuzzy, wireless sounds good.

I love using these for music. I'll say it again, as a wired solution they are simply the best headphones I've ever used. As a wireless solution, they are enjoyable as well. I'll wear these around the house (the Bluetooth range is excellent) or plugged into my computer. As a headset, they are only fair. There are two options. When you pair the device, you can choose the wireless profile to be headphone only, not headset so you'll take calls on your Treo in the usual way. If you do use them as a headset, consider them a sort of back up, or convenience. Although the conversation is clear, the tones are not pleasant. If you can live with that, then this is a great combo.

Despite those limitations, these are well, well worth the money. $139.95 is a lot, but for the best headphones I've used, the ability to use them wireless or wired, and great charging options, track control and the rest, they are definitely worth the money. Think of the headset function as a bonus item, not the reason you'd buy these in the first place.
