missing zips, confusing menus, county basis for directions
I had high hopes for this product. At first blush, it found my gps easily (especially when compared to TomTom) and seemed to have more up to date maps. However, the menu structure is not intuitive, and it does not show you an overall map when initially routing a new trip. It also doesn’t allow you a query for a different route if you don’t like the first one it chooses and sometimes chooses dirt roads as the preferred route. (It does do detours easily however.)
Worse, it sometimes requires you to know the county a city is in. The county requirement shows up when a city, for instance, spans more than one county. Atlanta GA is a case in point. You have to select the county before you can select the street. If you don’t know the county, then you choose a county and see if the street shows up. If it doesn’t, you have to try a different county. CoPilot 6 also is missing a major Atlanta GA zip code (30363) along with many related streets. If the zip had been there, then the county hunt and peck ordeal would not have been needed. A call to their TA department netted nothing except the information that CoPilot 7 should be released soon – perhaps as early as February.
A so-so product.

Pros:
-
Cons:
Software is not user friendly, Map viewing options limited.
In comparison to the Tom Tom systems, CoPilot Live has some similar features but in general falls short. When typing in most street addresses, it will prompt you for a cross street or nearby alternative, which is very annoying and ultimately defeats the purpose of trying to isolate one exact location. The indications for turns or exits do not come with adequate time to prepare for them, and your viewing options for the maps are not driver friendly either. It got me lost on more than one occasion through misdirection, so I immediately sought a replacement with Tom Tom 6 which is a much more worthwhile purchase.
