I had entered a previous post concerning the Z9 with the Treo 650.
Blue Ant has upgraded the firmware to V3.1. I no longer have any issues with my Treo and the Z9.
I highly recommend the Z9, best unit I have ever used.
Works great

Pros:
Sound Quality, Upgradable Firmware
Cons:
Possible fit issues, Ear hook during transport
With older firmware there may have been problems with pairing or staying connected, but it seems fine with any version =3.0 .. Ive used 3.1-3.3 and the disconnect/re-connects are FAR fewer than with v1.0. (which it was shipped with) (it is nice that with 3.3 the voice isolation setting confirmation doesnt cut off the sound from your conversation) Seeing them release updates so quickly is at least comforting that theyre responding to issues and taking care of them. (sure it would be nice if they were fixed out of the box, but is that reality?)
The Z9 has exhibited superior sound quality especially in noisy or windy environments. A quick test against the Plantronics Discovery 655 was like night and day when outside in a slight head wind. While the 655 felt great on my ear it just couldnt compete.
The fit is adequate although I can see how it may not work for some. Unless you have a large ear canal it definitely wont work without the hook. The hook itself is a bit flimsy (clear plastic) and I worry about breaking it. (good thing they include 2 extras) On the plus side you can easily adjust the hook for proper fit which isnt always an option with other headsets.
The clip is a nice feature, but doesnt cut the mustard for use with thinner shirts. (eg: a button down) I usually end up just placing it in my shirt pocket, but it is a bit awkward when in my pants pocket. (again - thinking that I might break the hook when sitting down) Perhaps a belt-clip option would work better?
As in the original treocentral review I agree with it having too many button combos to memorize. Although I only use a fraction of the features (pickup/hangup/redial) and can easily use the treo [700p] for anything else.
Z9 Turning Off
User: Bill Ray, Sep 4, 2007
I purchased the Z9,upgraded the firmware to V 2.0. After pairing the Z9 with my Treo 650, I made some phone calls to check on the quality of the call. Everyone said the volume and quality were very good.
I have noticed that when the phone is paired with the Treo650 and in standby mode, the Z9 shuts off. I have called Blue Ant Tech Support, they are aware of the issue and working on a software upgrade to fix this problem.
I like the Z9, hope they can fix this problem, if not Ill get something else.
Not for Palm Treos.

Pros:
Sounds Great
Cons:
Standby issue with Palm Treos
Like another reviewer, this is a great bt headset..except theres a problem with the pairing on Palm systems that it doesnt keep contact with the Z9 so it powers down.
I spoke with Tech support and they said its unlikely theyll fix the issue with the Treo 650p models.
So my wife got my Z9 for her Windows Mobile phone and it works great..Im still stuck withouth.
Listen with no strings attached!
